Even the most “Bah humbug” among us are bound to be starting to get that holiday itch right now. With the end-of-year momentum reaching its peak and only a few days of work left (before the “Hangover Season” as the more secular of us like to think of it) this weekend is the last chance to not only fill those Santa stockings, but get a bit of entertainment in before a whole lot of stuff shuts down for a week…
There doesn’t seem to be quite as much listed anywhere this weekend for some reason, quite possibly because everyone is just so damn busy, but there are still plenty of things to do whatever your flavour :
For Fans of Christmas :
All of you who’ve had your decorations and tree up since September must be so excited right now you’re unable to speak. Plenty of Christmas love coming your way this weekend, with events such as the Carols In The Domain on tomorrow (noon til 11pm, FREE) in the city .. though is that rain I see forecast? For more of an indoors treat, there’s Handels Messiah on at the City Recital Hall, which will set you back $38 but guarantees a bit more culture than a few verses of Rudolph. Still not your style? You can always check out the hilarious Christmas Special at the Comedy Store having its final shows this weekend.
Everything Else :
Fans of Jet should be pretty happy with their gigs this weekend, though for a more smooth and cool vibe, the Sinatra Rocks The Basement gig sounds awesome, with Jeff Duff, Frank Bennett & Grant Galea bashing through the rat-pack years in style.
For something a bit more energetic, on Saturday (9-4pm) you can do an all-day Electric Bicycle Gourmet Tour, pedaling (or not) around inner Sydney in search of the tastiest treats. Great idea – eat, burn calories, eat, burn calories etc…
Of course, anyone into the W-League knows that it’s Grand Final Weekend, so if nothing else, why not kick back with a few beers and get some practice drinking in, watching the game to get your tolerance in gear for the rest of the week?
In any case, it’s your last chance to buy any presents you’re still needing, so you’d better join the throng in the city over the weekend at some point…
